Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Lead the implementation of industry specific technologies
   • Identify technologies specific to an industry sector
   • Determine relevance of industry specific technologies to organisational requirements
   • Plan implementation of industry specific technologies where appropriate, for the benefit of the organisation
2. Direct the application of industry specific technologies to assist in solving specific organisational problems
   • Lead management of testing of industry specific technology
   • Direct implementation of specific features and functions of industry specific technologies to provide a suitable solution to an identified problem
   • Demonstrate depth of knowledge of enabling technologies to an accepted industry standard
   • Access and use sources of information relating to industry specific technologies
3. Lead the review, analysis and evaluation of the industry specific technology performance
   • Lead analysis of the implementation of the industry specific technologies for performance and usability
   • Analyse, review and evaluate the benefits to the organisation
   • Determine environmental considerations involved with using the technology
   • Seek feedback from users where appropriate

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

determine new and emerging technologies suitable for organisational requirements

lead the implementation of new and emerging industry specific technologies

analyse, and critically evaluate the industry specific technology and its application to the organisation.

Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

analyse and appraise current technology trends and directions in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector

specify the major industry standards used for the new technologies

evaluate vendor products and the direction in which they are trending

summarise information gathering techniques

appraise the general features, capabilities and application of current industry hardware and software products.
